Since the 1970s, photographer and director Anton Corbijn has collaborated with numerous bands and singers. He has had a major influence on international music and portrait photography. For this book, Corbijn has searched his archive and selected more than 350 photographs, many of which are being shown for the first time, of Arcade Fire, Depeche Mode, Metallica, Nirvana, R.E.M, the Rolling Stones, U2, Nick Cave, Johnny Rotten, Siouxsie Sioux, Tom Waits…

In his introduction, Anton Corbijn comes back to this 40-year experience with the music scene. Wim van Sinderen, curator of the exhibition at the Fotomuseum, puts into perspective the relationship of Corbijn to photography and music. Some bands and singers that he has frequently photographed – Bono, Michael Stipe, etc. – pay tribute to Corbijn by revealing behind the scenes anecdotes from the shot.
