“Murakami Versailles” represents an exceptional moment in which the Château de Versailles reconnects with contemporary artists by providing a visit that allows well-known or lesser-known sites in the domain to be (re)discovered. Following the same principle as “Jeff Koons Versailles”, this book presents the radical principle of the exhibition: one work, one room. Its publication gave rise to an exceptional photographic campaign, in unique conditions, during the period of installation of the artworks. The photographer’s eye was thus able to penetrate into the heart of each sculpture, sometimes using unusual angles that are inaccessible for visitors to the exhibition.
The book also presents, for the first time, elements of the making of each work (preparatory work by Takashi Murakami, sketches, studio photos, etc.)
