Yvane Chapuis Gwénaël Morin

Le Théâtre permanent

In 2009, Gwénaël Morin, accompanied by Guillaume Bailliart, Stéphanie Béghain, Fanny de Chaillé, Julian Eggerickx, Barbara Jung and Grégoire Monsaingeon, invested the space of the Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers in order to implement his Théâtre Permanent project. For one whole year, this involved developing a tool for the affirmation and intensification of theatre, through sustained sessions of play, rehearsal and transmission. With the aim of fostering collective creation and the desire to experiment and invent new relationships with a place, an environment and a community, this experiment was inaugurated with Lorenzaccio adapted from Musset’s Lorenzaccio, and later gave rise to Tartuffe adapted from Molière’s Tartuffe, Bérénice adapted from Racine’s Bérénice, Antigone adapted from Sophocle’s Antigone, Hamlet adapted from Shakespeare’s Hamlet and Woyzeck adapted from Büchner’s Woyzeck.

The book tales the story of this experiment through interviews with the actors, collective discussions, accounts of representations and door-to-door activities, press articles and photos from performances.
