Yvane Chapuis

“The notion of experimentation is important, since that is what generates the relationship with the exterior.” Yvane Chapuis thus sums up “Tour Médicis”, the project at Clichy-Montfermeil that she officially represented: the rehabilitation of an unoccupied tower into a centre for artists and exhibitions.

A trained art historian, Yvane Chapuis is particularly interested in art in movement, performance and dance. She is an exhibition curator (“life/forms”, 1999, at the Musée Fesch in Ajaccio, “The other show”, 2000, at the Kunstmuseum in Lucerne and the Biennale d’Art Contemporain de Lyon un 2001), she was also head editor for a special issue of Art Press in 2002 dedicated to dance, as well as for the magazine Mouvement. She directed the Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers between 2001 and 2009, collaborated on the Musée Précaire Albinet project with Thomas Hirschhorn, published an eponymous book on this experience and has written about Gwenaël Morin’s “permanent theatre”, present at this same site. In 2012, she was a resident of the prestigious Villa Medici in Rome.
