Coinciding with the release of the publication Les souvenirs des autres, this limited edition box set includes a copy of the book with a colour archival pigment print on baryta paper of Akihiko Okamura: Young bandmember at a Twelfth of July parade, Derry city, Northern Ireland, c. 1969
The photographic print, numbered from 1 to 15, was produced by Frédéric Jourda of Picto lab in Paris. It is certified with a dry stamp of the artist’s Archives.
A second limited edition includes the following print: Milk bottles on doorstep, Ireland, 1970s.
Les souvenirs des autres brings together for the first time Akihiko Okamura's work in Ireland on the occasion of the rediscovery of this archive and the recent digitization of the corpus documenting The Troubles from 1969 until his death in 1985. The artist's personal attachment to this country and its history led him to produce one of the most sensitive and significant works by a foreign photographer during the years of the Northern Irish conflict.
