Alain Bergala

Écrits sur l'image

Écrits sur l’image is the first publication dedicated to the collection of texts (in French) by Alain Bergala on photography. For more than forty years, Alain Bergala, at the same time film critic, director and great specialist of the still image, has questioned the medium and its major figures including Carole Bellaïche, Sophie Calle, Raymond Depardon, Robert Frank, Jean Gaumy, Josef Koudelka, Bernard Plossu, Wim Wenders and many others. The book brings together a total of 27 texts published between 1976 and 2020.

After Fragments de temps by Wright Morris and La Voix du voir by Clément Chéroux, it constitutes the third title in the TXT collection, directed by Agnès Sire, dedicated to the photographic image and the evolution of the medium through artists writings, critical essays, biographies...
