Jean-François Chevrier


Jean-François Chevrier is an historian and art critic. He has taught at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris since 1988. He was the founder and editor-in-chief of the magazine Photographies (1982-1985); the general advisor of Documenta X (1997); curator of a dozen international exhibitions; author of numerous essays on the bridges between literature and the visual arts, as well as on modern art and photography.

His regular collaboration with Jeff Wall has led to several exhibitions, texts and books, including the monograph Jeff Wall (Hazan, 2006). He is also the author of publications by Éditions Xavier Barral dedicated to photographer Patrick Faigenbaum: L’Éclairement (2014) and Santulussurgiu (2008).
