Matt Black


Magnum Photographer Matt Black (b.1970 in California) explores in his work the themes of immigration, inequalities and the environment first in his native rural California, in southern Mexico then in across the United States since 2015. His photographs are regularly published in the international press, notably in The New Yorker, TIME Magazine, Mother Jones and Vice Magazine. His work has been recognized with several international awards including the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Prize, the World Press Photo, the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting and the W. Eugene Smith Prize. He is represented by Robert Koch Gallery in San Francisco. Matt Black now lives in Exeter, California.
