The two photographic exhibitions presenting the work of Canadian artist Lynne Cohen and the French Marina Gadonneix, conceived in harmony, together form a singular project that probes the spaces of our modern society. The two artists had started a correspondence a year before the death of Lynne Cohen.
To accompany this exhibition, Atelier EXB is publishing two books Laboratories/Observatories by Marina Gadonneix and Observatories/Laboratories by Lynne Cohen. Each book presents previously unpublished photographs. Lynne Cohen's visual corpus, divided by themes rather than by series, testifies to both the artist's conceptual rigor and her irony as a permanent investigator of the configuration of social space. Marina Gadonneix's work is composed of her most important series and is accompanied by critical texts by Florian Ebner and Marcelline Delbecq, with, at the beginning and end of the book, an iconographic atlas that unfolds the scientific and artistic images that inspire the practice of the artist.
