From his hometown of Villefranche-sur-Saône to the limits of the Arab world, via Africa and the Far East, Raymond Depardon (b. 1942) captures images and testimonies that combine poetry and realism. In 1966, along with Gilles Caron, he founds his own photography agency: Gamma. Then, in 1979, he joins Magnum Photos. Director as well as photographer, Raymond Depardon makes documentaries since the 1960s. His works on the French society, justice, psychiatry or politics are a success. Since 2004, Raymond Depardon criss-crosses the roads to take photographs of the French territory with a view camera. This work, untitled “La France de Raymond Depardon” has been exhibited at the BNF in 2010. Since then, he continues to work on both photography and cinema. "Entre-temps" (2022) is his sixth book published at Atelier EXB, after "06 Alpes-Maritimes" (2007), "Méditerranée" (2013), "Traverser" (2017) et "Depardon USA" (2018) and "La Chambre" (2020). Awarded with many prices (Prix Georges Sadoul in 1979, Grand Prix national de la photographie in 1991), he won the César of the best documentary for "Reporters" (1981) and "Délits flagrants" (1994) and the Louis Delluc Price for "La Vie moderne" (2008).

He has published seven books with Atelier EXB: 06 – Alpes Maritimes (2007), Méditerranée (2013), Traverser (2017) et Depardon USA (2018), La Chambre (2020), Entre-temps (2022) and Septembre au Chili 1971/1973 (2023) with David Burnett.
