Born in 1991, Laure Winants works between Brussels and Paris. After studying at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KASK) in Ghent, Laure Winants began collaborating with research groups, including the CNRS and the CNES. Her practice is fueled by long-term, transdisciplinary collaborations with scientific institutions, which allow her to explore the connections between art, ecology, and environmental sciences. Her works are composed of sensitive materials that react to their environment—light, time, temperature, and humidity—thereby creating a dialogue between art and science. A 2024 Tara Ocean Foundation grantee, she was in residence aboard their schooner, where she began her Time Capsule project. Her works have been exhibited internationally, notably at FOMU in Antwerp and at Hangar in Brussels (2024), as well as in France at CENTQUATRE in Paris as part of the exhibition on the Tara Ocean Foundation (2025), at the Bibliothèque nationale de France (Épreuves de la matière, 2023), and more recently at the Canton Triennial in China, the Daegu Photography Biennale in Korea, and the Asama Photo Festival in Japan (2025).
