Nuits Balnéaires

© Ayela

A multidisciplinary visual artist and emerging figure on the art scene, Nuits Balnéaires was born and raised in Abidjan in an Akan Agni-Bona and Malinké family. His practice is deeply rooted in these traditions and cultures tinged with spirituality. His works immerse the viewer in a parallel space-time, outside geographical constraints. In 2019, after several years of fashion and conceptual photography, Nuits Balnéaires moved to Grand-Bassam. His documentation of the floods in the coastal city earned him a journalism grant from the World Press Photo Foundation. In 2020, he was one of the winners of the 2020 call for proposals from the Goethe Institute and the Prince Claus Fund, which supports cultural and artistic responses to environmental change. His works have been featured in numerous exhibitions in Ivory Coast, South Africa, France, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Australia. Nuits Balnéaires was the laureate of the 2025 Latitudes programme of the Fondation d'entreprise Hermès.
