Romain Bernini

Born in 1979, Romain Bernini lives and works in Paris. He creates pictorial works inspired by reflections on color, space, rituals, popular culture, otherness, and distant lands. His figurative work draws on American Color Field painting, non-Western art, and pop culture. Whether depicting lush and enigmatic landscapes, contemporary shamans wearing masks or makeup, exotic animals, or strange and indeterminate places, Romain Bernini's works reveal a fringe of the world, the possibility of ecstasy or a balancing act between reality and utopia. A resident of the Villa Medici in Rome in 2010-2011, he has participated in numerous exhibitions in France and abroad (England, China, South Korea). His works are included in many public collections, such as the Musée National d'Art Moderne - Centre Pompidou, the Centre National des Arts Plastiques, the Musée des Abattoirs in Toulouse, the MAC VAL, the Frac Île-de-France, and the Frac des Pays de la Loire. A large tapestry was woven from one of his works at the Cité Internationale de la Tapisserie d'Aubusson. He has been teaching at the Beaux-Arts de Paris since 2023.
