Jean-Philippe Toussaint

Writer, director, and photographer Jean-Philippe Toussaint is the author of eighteen novels published by Éditions de Minuit. In 2002, he began Le Cycle de Marie, entitled Marie Madeleine Marguerite de Montalte, in four parts: Faire l'amour in 2002; Fuir in 2005, which won the Prix Médicis for French fiction; La Vérité sur Marie in 2009, which won the Prix Décembre and the Prix Triennal du Roman de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles; and the fourth installment, Nue, in 2013. His novels have been translated into more than twenty languages. He has directed four feature films and presented photo exhibitions around the world. In 2012, he designed the exhibition LIVRE/LOUVRE. In the fall, L'instant visible will be published by Atelier EXB and a translation by Jean-Philippe Toussaint of Franz Kafka's short story, Le Verdict, will be published by Éditions de Minuit.
