Diana Markosian

Born in Moscow in 1989 and with a Master's degree from Columbia University in New York, Diana Markosian is one of the leaders of a new generation of photographers who are seizing on images in all their forms to move the lines of documentary storytelling. By combining different styles and media, she is developing a unique approach to photographic storytelling. Her first monograph, Santa Barbara (Aperture, 2020), was a great success and was selected as one of the best books of the year by Time and the Museum of Modern Art Magazine. It traces her family's journey from post-Soviet Russia to the United States in the 1990s, questioning her mother's decision to leave the culture and history of one country for another. Diana Markosian's photographs have been published in Vanity FairVogue and The New Yorker. Her work is represented by Galerie Les Filles du Calvaire in Paris.
