Catalina Mena was born in Santiago, Chile, in 1966. Niece of Sergio Larrain, with whom she had very little contact, she has devoted 25 years to cultural journalism and the writing of essays on the visual arts and photography. Frequently published in magazines, catalogs and books, she is a member of Barbarie - pensar con otros, a digital platform that brings together Spanish-speaking cultural thinkers. She is notably the author of the poetry collection 7am (1993) and a study of Chilean author and activist Pedro Lemebel (2019).
