Director of research emeritus at the CNRS, Michel Frizot is a historian and theorist of photography. He directed the Nouvelle histoire de la photographie, published by Adam Biro-Bordas (1994) and is the author of numerous books, including Histoire de voir (1989), E.J. Marey chrono-photographe (2001), Photo trouvée (2006), VU magazine (2009), L'Homme photographique (2018). He is an exhibition curator and the author of catalogs, including André Kertész (Jeu de Paume, 2010), Toute photographie fait énigme (MEP, 2015, with C. de Veigy), Germaine Krull (Jeu de Paume, 2015), Henri Cartier-Bresson - Chine, 1948-49 (Fondation HCB, 2019, with Su Ying lung).
