Vladimir Vasilev

Vladimir Vasilev (born in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria) began photographing at the age of 15, while studying civil engineering. In 1998, he decided to devote his life to photography, and left his native country three years later to go to France. Set in the field of documentary, his strong and intense images, as if taken from an Eisenstein film, speak of his Slavic origins. Vladimir Vasilev received a special mention from the jury of the Grand Prix de La Samaritaine in 2013. He was also the finalist for the New East Photo Prize. Vasilev has exhibited at the Calvert 22 Foundation in London and in St. Petersburg at the Rosphoto Museum. He also participates in the project La France vue d´ici, created by the Images Singulières festival and the magazine Mediapart.
