Paolo Pellegrin


Member of Magnum Photos, Paolo Pellegrin (b.1964 in Rome) is one of the major photoreporters of his generation. The visual power of his images testifies to the great political conflicts and ecological upheavals of the world with a humanist sensibility. His photographs are regularly published in the international press, notably in Newsweek, the New York Times Magazine and Zeit Magazin. His work has been the subject of numerous individual exhibitions, and most recently in France at the Rencontres d´Arles (2008) and at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris (2012). Pellegrin has received numerous awards including World Press Photo in 1995 for his reporting on AIDS in Uganda, the Leica Medal of Excellence in 2011 and the W. Eugene Smith Prize in 2006. .
