Born in 1978 in San Sebastian (Spain), Jon Cazenave has been working with photography since the years 2000. Resolutely determined to question his identity and territory’s belonging,
he has undertaken a long-term research photographic project about his roots called Galerna. Jon Cazenave’s approach to photography starts from an intimate anthropological perspective and develops into a language that incorporates the ancestral sign and symbol to contemporary creation. He works in the field of introspective questioning and the apprehension of knowledge through doubt and inner investigation, taking place in the universe that surrounds him.
Cazenave´s work has been exhibited at international institutions including Canal de Isabel ll or CaixaForum (Spain) and Foto Museum Antwerp (Belgium). He has also participated in several international photography festivals such as Noorderlicht (The Netherlands), Guangzhou Image Triennial (China), Bienalsur (Argentina), Foto México (Mexico) and Photoespaña (Spain).
