Born in 1957, Pascal Convert is an artist working with several media including photography, sculpture, installation and video. He is also a documentary filmmaker and writer. The themes of memory and forgetfulness are at the heart of his work. In 1989 and 1990 he was a resident of the Villa Medici in Rome. Invited by the French Embassy in Afghanistan in March 2016 to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the destruction of the Buddhas of Bamiyan, Pascal Convert has scanned - using drones from the company ICONEM - the cliff in which these monumental statues had been carved 1600 years ago. He made a palladium contact photographic print giving a 16-meter-long panoramic. It was exhibited at the Studio national Le Fresnoy in France in 2017, at the Boghossian Foundation (Villa Empain, Brussels) in 2018, at Lascaux IV, at the Guimet Museum in 2018 and from 2021 to 2022, as well as at the Louvre Lens until 2024. .
