Thierry Bouët

In the early 1980s, Thierry Bouët became a fashion photographer and then the artistic director of the Harcourt studio. He started collaborating with various newspapers including Vogue, Elle USA, Marie-Claire, Vanity Fair or Libération. His most famous series are Chasse à l’homme (Éditions Alternative, 2003), Première Heure (2008) and Deslits (Éditions Aubanel, 2007).
In Chasse à l’homme, he placed portraits of women opposite their classified ad in search of their soul mate.
Deslits is a series of photographs of personalities for whom the bed plays a central role in their life.
In his work Première heure, shown at the Samaritaine, the New York Photo Festival, and the Rencontres d’Arles, he immortalises around a hundred newborns during the first minutes of their life.
Recently, his Descartes series, in which he recorded 25 years of photography in the form of handmade postcards, was the subject of a documentary screened at the Musée de l’Élysée in Lausanne as part of the 2014 edition of the Nuit des Images.

Thierry Bouët was notably a laureate of the Sony World Photography Awards in 2013.
