For the past twenty years, he has been traveling to Albania to study the transformations resulting from the fall of the dictatorship in the fields of religion, family and nationalism. His current works focus on the production and use of photography in this country. Among several publications on the subject, he is the co-author with Anouck Durand of Ylli, les couleurs de la dictature, a monograph on this Albanian propaganda magazine, and with Ismail Kadaré of L’Albanie entre la légende et l’histoire (Actes Sud).
