Simon Hantaï

A major figure of abstraction and modern art, Simon Hantaï (1922-2008) was associated with the French support-surface movement. Born in Hungary, he first attended the Budapest School of Fine Arts before moving to Paris in 1949.

Hantaï has represented France at the 1982 Venice Biennale before withdrawing himself from the international artistic scene to pursue his research working solitary.
