After graduating from a graphic design school in London, Annette Lucas worked from 1985 as an independent graphic designer in Paris, in the press and publishing world (including supplements for Télérama, Le Monde, and the logo of the French audit office). In 1992, she founded Atalante, a visual creation agency, with Xavier Barral and Stéphane Trapier, which she still directs today. A long-time supporter of women’s rights associations, in 2004 she led an inquiry throughout France into the individual and collective struggle of female victims of violence who have been able to rebuild their lives. This investigation, led with the help of photographer Jane Evelyn Atwood, was published in book form (À contre-coups) and gave rise to an itinerant pedagogical exhibition presented in many cities, from Paris, to Brussels, to Bamako.
