Born in 1958, in Maubeuge, France. Lives and works in Montreuil. Since 1985 his photographic work has taken the form of successive campaigns, with each series tackling a different location. The countryside visited in each case was not somewhere to be covered for its newsworthiness but a set of landscapes, whose character slowly becomes apparent in fixed scenes. He has roved across many regions of France using this approach. At present he is in the United States and doing a series about the French countryside. In 1992-1993, he was a fellow of the Académie de France in Rome (Villa Medici), resident at the Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto, Japan in 1997 and, in 2009, was awarded the Prix de l’Académie des Beaux Arts/Marc Ladreit de la Charrière. Thibaut Cuisset is represented by the Galerie Les Filles du Calvaire, Paris.
