For more than forty years, Sally Mann has been exploring the themes of memory, desire, death, family ties and our relationship to nature through a photographic work rooted in the family narrative. Reflecting on childhood and adolescence, on the loss of innocence, her images are constructed from the real and imbued with the culture of the southern United States dear to Faulkner.
A survey show, Mille et un passages, is now presented at the Jeu de Paume in Paris this Summer.

An accompanying monograph, published by Éditions Xavier Barral, presents more than 200 photographs and explores every facet of her work.
