Sophie Calle at Marseille

Fives exhibitions of Sophie Calle - between fiction and reality, narration and images – are presented at Marseille. Histoires vraies at the Museum Grobet-Labadié, an anthology of her personal items scattered in the private mansion. At the Musée des Beaux-Arts, the exhibition Parce que, a series of photographs is revealed behind curtains. Quest of love, the chasseur français collects marriage announcements published in the newspaper; an appointment at the Museum d’histoires naturelles. Another intimate encounter, in the chapel of the Centre de la Vieille Charité, where the artist honour the memory of her missing mother. The videos of the series Voir la mer, shot in Istanbul, are screened at Château Borely.

In 2018, Éditions Xavier Barral published Parce que, a questioning around the photographic trigger and the intrinsic relationship between a text and an image.
