Rinko Kawauchi

Born in Japan in 1972, Rinko graduated from the Seian University of Art and Design. After a short career in advertising, she made a masterful entrance into the world of photography in 2002, with the simultaneous publication of three books that revealed her work to a wide audience: Utatane, Hanabi and Hanako. Other books followed that received rave reviews, such as Aila (2004), Cui Cui (2005) or Illuminance (2011). Each time, she presents the same view of the beauty of the details of existence, even when fulfilling a commission for the Museu de Arte Moderna, in São Paulo, which asked her to photograph the Japanese community of Brazil, leading the publication of Semear (2007). She maintains an online diary, the Rinko Diary, where she publishes one photo per day, taken with her Iphone.

Rinko Kawauchi has had many solo and collective exhibitions and has received prizes such as the Kimura Ihei Award (2002) or the Annual Infinity Award, Art Category (2009).
