Tom Arndt

Born in 1944 in Minneapolis, Tom Arndt studied photography at the College of Art and Design in his hometown, before continuing his studies at the University of Minnesota. The work in his photo lab holds a major place in his artistic practice, using different papers, playing with shades of gray and the depths of black. Like “rushes of life”, Arndt’s images borrow from the cinematographic medium with his freeze frames. His works are included in major museum collections, including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Los Angeles County Museum, the MoMA in New York and the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. In 2009, he released "Home", an ode to his hometown and Minnesota, designed as a family album. He is represented in France by Galerie Les Douches and in the United States by Howard Greenberg Gallery.
