Clément Chéroux


Clément Chéroux is a photo historian with a PhD in Art History. Since January 2017, he has been senior curator of photography for the Department of Photography at SFMOMA. From 2007 to 2016, he served as curator of photography and then chief curator of the Department of Photography at the Musée National d’Art Moderne at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Chéroux has curated or co-curated more than 20 exhibitions on modern and contemporary photography and has published, as author or editor, more than 30 books, including Mémoire des camps. Photographies des camps de concentration et d’extermination nazis (1933-1999) (2001), The Perfect Medium: Photography and the Occult (2005), La Subversion des images : surréalisme, photographie, film (2009), Shoot! Existential Photography (2010), Henri Cartier-Bresson: Here and Now (2014), Paparazzi ! Photographers, Stars, Artists (2014), Walker Evans (2017).
